2010
First published in 1960, A Dictionary of English Costume was monumental in scope, providing a comprehensive catalogue of fashion terms from 900 to 1900. The Dictionary of Fashion History completely updates this landmark work to bring it up to the present day.
Fashion 150 : 150 years, 150 designers
Covering everyone from Azzedine Alaia to Yohji Yamamoto, and everything from Boho Chic to Space Age style, this is an indispensible and delightful guide to the creative world of fashion. This encyclopedic volume contains over 150 entries on designers and styles, with multiple images and a comprehensive text for each one. It is a reliable, up-to-date reference work as well as an inspirational showcase, with over 500 photographs and original illustrations. Whether you want to know about the most creative designers or the most successful brands, luxurious haute couture or innovative youth countercultures, this guide includes all of the designers, movements and style icons that have created the history of international fashion from the 1860s all the way to today.
The Berg Companion to Fashion
2011
According to the editor this volume is “a one‐stop reference for anyone interested in fashion” and complements the online Berg Fashion Library (Eicher, 2010) (RR 2011/184), also available as a ten volume printed set as Berg Encyclopedia of World Dress and Fashion, and the Encyclopedia of Clothing and Fashion (Steele, 2005) (RR 2005/295) published by a Thomson Gale imprint which still owns copyright of the articles. Throughout the companion some of the entries contain helpful little black outlined boxes which include quotations, more information, suggestions for research and poems, for example “How old is that apron?” suggests readers look at old magazines and other resources to research the topic and in the Swimwear entry there is a large box on bathing beauties. The text is scattered with small black and white illustrations and there is a separate section of 32 pages of high quality colour illustrations one‐third of way into the book. Since the images are not referenced anywhere in the texts this requires the readers to flick back and forth between article and image.

A Dictionary Gets a Makeover
2017
Sterlacci (formerly chair, fashion design, Fashion Inst. of Technology [FIT]; Leather Fashion Design ; Leather Apparel Design ; with Arbuckle, The A to Z of the Fashion Industry ). While I was chair of the fashion design department at FIT, I was approached by publisher Rowman & Littlefield, who, at the time, were looking for someone to write a book on the fashion industry for their historical dictionaries series [\"Historical Dictionaries of Professions and Industries.\"] Because I was taking a leave of absence and moving to California, I tried giving the series to one of my FIT colleagues, but no one was interested. [...]we made a list of up-and-coming designers and the impact that the Internet, technology, and sustainability have had on the industry since the first edition.
